Lianne La Havas was the guest on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic earlier this week. She spoke with host Jason Bentley and performed six songs from her new album, Blood, and one from her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?. You can watch the complete 40-minute session here. La Havas's US tour concludes with shows in Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, and Nashville.
Journal Topics: Artist NewsRadioVideoWednesday,October 14,2015As announced last week, Nonesuch Records will release Junun, an album from composer/musician Shye Ben Tzur, guitarist Jonny Greenwood, and the Rajasthan Express, a group of Indian qawwali musicians, in November. Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson documented the recording sessions inside the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India. You can watch a clip from the film featuring the album track "Roked" here; the track is available to download now with album preorders. "Suddenly," The New Yorker writes in an article on Junun, "a person knows what it feels like to occupy a moment completely."
Journal Topics: Artist NewsVideoMonday,October 5,2015Rhiannon Giddens has unveiled the official music video for "Black Is the Color," off her debut solo album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. The video, directed by Peter Zavadil, premiered as an NPR Music First Watch. "We all had such a great time filming this video," says Giddens, "and were so honored to set our story—an old love story rediscovered—on the campus of Fisk University, a Nashville HBCU that dates back to 1866. The Fisk Jubilee Singers were among the first African-American performance groups to tour America and Europe, and they single-handedly kept their school from closing its doors with the money they raised with their singing." They performed "She's Got You," which Giddens also performs on her solo debut album, Tomorrow Is My Turn. "I love this version for the dynamics," she says, "and the way we are all listening to each other with every fiber of our being." Giddens is currently touring the US.

"With the music video's psychedelic light show emanating in the background," says Rolling Stone, "the Arcs delivered a riveting take on the track, including a killer Auerbach guitar solo." Watch it here. The band, who played a sold-out show at NYC's Bowery Ballroom Saturday night streamed live on Yahoo, tours Europe in November and North America in December.

"We worked with the wonderful Brian and Karl on this surreal piece," says the trio. The Staves conclude their UK tour as special guests of Florence and the Machine with two nights at Alexandra Palace in London tonight and Friday.

"I think we just put The Arcs together as a means to have a platform to do this thing that we love to do," says Auerbach: "make music, make records, and be able to share it with people."
