Lake Street Dive has released an acoustic performance video of "Nobody's Stopping You Now," the new single from their upcoming album, Obviously, out March 12. In the video, which you can watch here, lead vocalist Rachael Price performs the song—a letter of encouragement to her teenaged self—"on a beautiful remote island off the western coast of Canada" in the garden of her friend Elise Boer, who, with Adam Iredale-Gray, joins on strings.

Composer Adam Guettel's theatrical song cycle Myths and Hymns, the recording of which was released on Nonesuch in 1999, is the central project of MasterVoices' 2020–21 season. In an online staging conceived by the ensemble's Artist Director, Ted Sperling—the music director of the original Nonesuch recording—new short musical films will illustrate the protagonist’s exploration of Flight, Work, Love, and Faith over twenty-three episodes. The first chapter—featuring dozens of artists, including Julia Bullock, Renée Fleming, Norm Lewis, Joshua Henry, José Llana, and Kelli O'Hara—premiered last night and can be seen here. The three subsequent chapters will stream on February 24, April 14, and May 26.

Lake Street Dive's new album, Obviously, will be released March 12 on Nonesuch. The album was produced by Mike Elizondo, a songwriting collaborator for Dr. Dre, Eminem, and 50 Cent and record producer for Fiona Apple and Mary J. Blige, among others. "Mike encouraged us to make bolder arrangement choices, take those chances and try those things," says bassist Bridget Kearney. "The record really is a success in what we set out to do: continue to challenge ourselves, continue to grow, and do things we’ve never done before." A new single, “Nobody’s Stopping You Now,” is out now, as is the previously released track "Making Do"; you can watch videos for both here. Rhiannon Giddens spoke with North Carolina singer-songwriter and social activist Laurelyn Dossett for the Blue Ridge Music Center's new online series A Place in the Band: Women in Bluegrass & American Roots Music. Vagabon has teamed up with Courtney Barnett for a cover inspired by Karen Dalton's version of "Reason to Believe," which was originally written and recorded by Tim Hardin in 1965 and covered by a wide range of artists since. After discovering Dalton's version, "I became obsessed," says Vagabon's Lætitia Tamko, "and so a few days after discovering it, I was encouraged to record a cover of it in my garage." Barnett adds "I'm a huge fan of Vagabon and Karen Dalton so this was a dream. They both have a voice that absolutely knocks the wind out of me." Vagabon has announced a livestream on January 29; tickets are available now.

Joachim Cooder releases a cover of Steve Earle’s timely “Christmas in Washington” today. Recorded two weeks ago in Los Angeles, the single features Cooder, who produced the track, on vocals, array mbira, and percussion; Rayna Gellert on fiddle; and Juliette Commagere on backing vocals. "Since Steve Earle released ‘Christmas in Washington’ in 1997," says Cooder, "I’ve been listening to it year in and year out. After the election and the last four years we’ve been through, and with Christmas approaching, I thought it was time we all checked back in with Steve. Now more than ever, it seems all a man can do is call out for Woody Guthrie to rise again."

Mountain Man has shared a live video of its performance of Kacey Musgraves' "Slow Burn," from the third and final set of its streaming concert series Live From the Garden, which you can watch here. The trio had previously recorded "Slow Burn" for Mountain Man Sings Kacey Musgraves, part of its series of covers songs.

Just in time for the holidays, The Staves have released an intimate live performance video of their 2018 holiday tune "Home Alone, Too," which you can watch here. The original recording can be heard at the close of the Christmas Eve episode of the new Netflix series Dash & Lily.

Mountain Man has shared a live video of its performance of Wilco's "You and I," from its streaming concert series Live From the Garden, which you can watch here. The third and final concert takes place this Thursday, December 17. The band filmed the three shows in North Carolina: in the woods, at home, and by the fire. Each night has a different set list.
