Chris Thile's new album, Thanks for Listening, will be released on Nonesuch Records on December 8, 2017; vinyl on December 15. The album is a collection of new studio recordings, produced by Thomas Bartlett, of ten songs originally written as Songs of the Week on A Prairie Home Companion. Thile manned almost all of the stringed instruments on the album and is joined by guest singers Sarah Jarosz, Gaby Moreno, and Aoife O'Donovan. Mandolinist/singer Chris Thile and pianist Brad Mehldau begin a five-city US tour, performing songs from their 2017 debut duo album, Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, at The Town Hall in New York City tonight. The duo is at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center in Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Thursday, then heads to California this weekend for concerts at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles and Miner Auditorium at SFJAZZ, and a closing-night set at the Monterey Jazz Festival on Sunday.

Chris Thile and Brad Mehldau will perform songs from their 2017 debut duo album, Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau, in select cities in the US, Europe, and the UK this autumn. The US shows begin with a concert at The Town Hall in NYC September 13, followed by shows in Wisconsin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Monterey. The European tour begins in Milan on November 8 and includes a set at the Barbican for the London Jazz Festival and stops in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile, and Edgar Meyer were on NPR's Here and Now, discussing and performing from their new album, Bach Trios. Bach Trios, an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer, is now available in a two-LP vinyl edition, following its recent release on CD and digitally. Bach Trios, an album of Bach works recorded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolinist Chris Thile, and bassist Edgar Meyer, is out now on CD and digitally, with the two-LP vinyl edition due April 21. The album comprises works by J.S. Bach originally written for keyboard instruments, plus one sonata for viola da gamba. In 2011, Ma, Thile, and Meyer—along with Stuart Duncan—collaborated on The Goat Rodeo Sessions, which won two Grammy Awards. The Times of London calls Bach Trios "effervescent" and "irresistible." The trio performs in nine cities across the US beginning April 21.

Chris Thile, the host of A Prairie Home Companion, welcomed label mate Brad Mehldau to the show as a special guest this past weekend. They performed two songs from their debut duo album: Mehldau's tune "The Watcher" and the David Rawlings / Gillian Welch song "Scarlet Town." You can watch their performance of the latter here.
