The Black Keys' Patrick Carney, fresh off the release of the band's new album, Turn Blue, and its debut as the #1 album, spoke with Carrie Brownstein, of the band Sleater-Kinney and the IFC show Portlandia for The Talkhouse Podcast. The Black Keys opened for Sleater-Kinney back in 2003. "It’s a revealing, thought-provoking conversation that only two musicians could have," says The Talkhouse. You can hear it for yourself here.

The Black Keys have confirmed several additional North American tour dates, including shows in Ottawa, Oakland, Sacramento, and Los Angeles as well as additional nights in Brooklyn and Chicago. Special guests during the extensive tour include Cage The Elephant, Jake Bugg, and St. Vincent. The tour begins September 5 in Columbus, Ohio, and runs through December. Pre-sale for newly announced dates begins Tuesday, June 3, at 10 AM local time; general on sale starts Friday, June 6, at 10 AM local.

The Black Keys’ new album, Turn Blue, debuted this week at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is the highest chart debut yet for the acclaimed duo, whose previous album, El Camino, debuted at #2 in 2011. It is also the first #1 album for Nonesuch Records. Turn Blue is also the band’s highest charting album to date internationally, debuting at #1 in Canada and Australia, #2 in the UK and New Zealand, #3 in Ireland, #4 in France and Switzerland and #5 in Austria and Holland. The album also charted in the top ten in Germany, Belgium, Finland, and Portugal.

The Black Keys' new album, Turn Blue, is out now. Rolling Stone gives the album four-and-a-half stars, calling it "the best, most consistently gripping album The Black Keys have ever made." The AP hears "the sound of a band operating at the peak of its power." Turn Blue is Album of the Week in the Guardian, the Times, Metro, and Independent, which gives it five stars, calling it "a post-modern blues-rock marvel." Mojo says it "underlines the fact that The Black Keys are the most vital rock band in the world right now." The band performs on The Colbert Report tonight, and Patrick Carney leads a Reddit AMA on Wednesday. Ticket pre-sale for the fall tour began this morning; general on-sale begins this Friday.

The Black Keys returned to Saturday Night Live this past weekend as musical guests, performing two songs from their new album, Turn Blue. The band returns to late-night TV with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight and an appearance on The Colbert Report tomorrow. Earlier today, The Black Keys will be on the webcast concert series Live on Letterman, performing live from the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC, webcast on CBS.com, after 7:30 PM ET.

The Black Keys will embark on an extensive North American tour this fall. The tour begins September 5 in Columbus, Ohio, and runs through December, with dates at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, among others. Ticket pre-sale begins Tuesday, May 13, for Citi® card members and with pre-orders of The Black Keys' new album, Turn Blue, in the Nonesuch Store and the band's site. The Black Keys stopped by the BBC's Maida Vale Studios in London to talk with Zane Lowe and perform three tracks from their forthcoming album, Turn Blue: the first single, "Fever"; the title track; and an exclusive new track from the album, "Bullet in the Brain." The Black Keys, after performing “Fever,” from their new album, Turn Blue, on Che Tempo Che Fa in Italy Sunday, performs on BBC Two’s Later … with Jools Holland tonight and Friday. On Wednesday, The Black Keys perform on BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe. The band is featured on the cover of the new issue of Mojo magazine (pictured at left), and Turn Blue is Album of the Month in Uncut, which exclaims: “Turn Blue turns out to be The Black Keys’ sneakiest, subtlest and most seductive album.” The Independent gives it five stars, calling it "a post-modern blues-rock marvel."
