During a recent trip to the US to celebrate the release of her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough?, the London-based singer/songwriter stopped by LA's Greystone Manor Supperclub to talk with the show about her musical inspirations, share the stories behind some of the songs on the album, and perform in the intimate venue. Fatoumata Diawara recently concluded a US tour featuring music from her debut album, Fatou. The Malian-raised, Parisian singer/songwriter made stops across the country, including NYC, where she performed at Pace University’s Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts. There, Diawara spoke with NBC 4 New York’s Nonstop Sound about her tour, her time in the city, and her strong connection to the cultural traditions of Mali. Watch the piece here.

Emmylou Harris, who was presented with an ACM Honors Pioneer Award this week, joins English folk rock quartet Mumford & Sons for CMT Crossroads, premiering tonight on CMT. The show explores the roots of country music by pairing country artists with musicians from other genres. Marcus Mumford tells the AP: "Pretty much every song that Emmylou has sung on is my favorite song of whichever artist she sang with." Watch a preview of the episode here.

Emmylou Harris, Rokia Traoré, Fatoumata Diawara, and Oumou Sangare are participating in 30 songs / 30 days, in which female musicians from around the world have come together to support the Half the Sky movement. Through the 30 songs / 30 days project, one song per day is available to download for the month of September and leading up to the October 1 & 2 premiere of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, a four-hour PBS documentary inspired by the widely acclaimed book of the same name by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. 

Ry Cooder, recently featured in the New York Times, was the guest on PBS's Tavis Smiley show on Monday—fittingly, Labor Day—to discuss his timely new album, Election Special, the specific stories behind some of its tracks, and the broader political and social climate that compelled him to create it. Watch the episode here. Cooder and Smiley continue the conversation with Cornell West on PRI's Smiley & West, a program that inspired one of the songs on the album.

The Black Keys closed out their European summer festival tour with a performance at the Reading Festival Sunday night. The BBC was there and captured their performance of "Little Black Submarines," off El Camino. The band was also featured on last night's episode of Le Grand Journal on Canal+, performing "Gold on the Ceiling," also from El Camino. Watch both videos here. Punch Brothers will make their Austin City Limits debut when the band's performance airs on PBS on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Watch a preview of the show here. Also on the episode will be a set from The Civil Wars. The following week, ACL presents highlights from the Americana Honors & Awards Show; Punch Brothers, Chris Thile, and Carolina Chocolate Drops are all up for awards. The new ACL seasons begins October 6 with an hour of music from Radiohead. Punch Brothers perform live at the ACL Music Festival in Austin October 13.

Punch Brothers were in London to perform at the 2012 Hard Rock Calling festival in Hyde Park this past July. Among the other artists performing at this year's festival were Paul Simon, Tom Morello, Allison Krauss, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul McCartney. Tune in this weekend to see highlights from the festival, including a song from Punch Brothers' set, airing in the US on VH1 and Palladia and in the UK on Sky Arts. The band resumes its North American tour in September.

The music video for The Black Keys' "Tighten Up," off the band's multiple Grammy Award–winning 2010 album Brothers, has been given the Pop Up treatment from VH1's Pop Up Video. This version adds a new layer to the much-loved video directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, offering new insights and behind-the-scenes details on the making of the video. Check it out here.

AfroCubism, the supergroup of Cuban and Malian singers and instrumentalists, made a rare tour of North America last month. CNN caught up with band member Toumani Diabaté to discuss the project in a piece for CNN's African Voices. "His collaborations and his vision," says CNN, "pairing the unique sound of the kora with instruments from across the globe, open up a world of possibility, all the while maintaining his roots at home in West Africa."
