Carolina Chocolate Drops, whose new album, Leaving Eden, was release on vinyl yesterday, are featured in a new piece on PBS Newshour's Art Beat that examines the roots of their music. Carolina Chocolate Drops "push an appreciation of home grown songs into brand new territory," explains The Morton Report. "It's not unlike jazz musicians who take popular music into the stratosphere. The Low Anthem joined The Chieftains in a performance of "School Days Over" on The Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday night, in celebration of the legendary Irish band's 50th anniversary. "The perfect way to celebrate their anniversary," says VH1, "the performance was filled with soul and reverence, and if you close your eyes, will take you back to a rolling, misty, fantastical landscape filled with magic." Watch the performance here. The groups perform in concert on NPR Music on Friday and at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, St. Patrick's Day. The Low Anthem plays its own set at SXSW tonight.

Punch Brothers make their SXSW debut with eight free shows this week, including tonight's Warner Sound showcase, which will stream live at youtube.com/thewarnersound. The SXSW shows follow two nights at the Bluebird Theater in Denver and precede a number of solo shows from Chris Thile. Punch Brothers recently joined Dierks Bentley to perform Bob Dylan’s "Señor," off Amnesty International's new benefit album Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan, on The Ellen Show, which aired yesterday. The Low Anthem is set to join The Chieftains this week as the legendary Irish band marks its 50th anniversary, performing on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight on CBS; in concert from WGBH radio, streaming this Friday on NPR Music; and, on Saturday, St. Patrick's Day, live at Carnegie Hall. The Low Anthem will play its own set for SXSW at Austin's ACL Live at the Moody Theater on Thursday. Next week, the band can be heard on The Hunger Games soundtrack.

The Black Keys visited the BBC's Maida Vale studios earlier this week for a special episode of BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe show, which included a 40-minute set for a live studio audience that was webcast live. The Black Keys, fresh on the heels of a winter tour of Europe and in the lead-up to their North American tour, have announced a new run of European dates for this summer. The tour includes several sets at summer festivals—Way Out West, Øya, Flow, Lowlands, and Highfield—as well as headlining shows in Copenhagen and Dublin. The band performed "Lonely Boy" on Canal Plus' Le Grand Journal last night. Watch it here. The Evening Standard, reviewing their recent London show, says: "In our era of airbrushing and auto-tuning, the Ohio duo are a definitive argument for keeping things rugged and real."

Björk was the guest on last night's episode of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. She performed the song "Cosmogony" off her new album, Biophilia. For the performance, Björk was backed by members of an award-winning Icelandic women's choir, Alarm Will Sound percussionist Chris Thompson, and app developer Max Weisel, who will also perform on stage alongside Björk in the live shows. Björk, whose ten-night Biophilia residency in New York City begins this Friday, will be the guest on tonight's episode of The Colbert Report. Tune in to Comedy Central starting at 11:30 PM ET tonight to see Björk perform "Cosmogony" from Biophilia and talk with host Stephen Colbert about the multimedia project: the album, the Apps, the educational series, and the residency, which includes six shows at the New York Hall of Science in Queens and four at Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan.

The band performed at Celtic Connections in Glasgow with support from Punch Brothers. The bands "played with the kind of hard-won technique that leaves you high on life," raves The Scotsman in a five-star review. The Herald Scotland calls the Chocolate Drops "riotously good fun" and "a real treat"; they "set the house alight." The band launches its US tour on Thursday. Chocolate Drops and Kronos Quartet can be heard on Chimes of Freedom, a new album of songs of Bob Dylan benefiting Amnesty International.

Wanda Jackson will join Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings to pay tribute to the late Amy Winehouse on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul, premiering tonight at 9 PM ET on VH1. Jackson famously performs Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good" on her latest album, The Party Ain't Over. The VH1 Divas show, a tribute to the heritage of soul music and the cities in which it flourished, also includes performances from Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, and more, all backed by the show’s house band, The Roots.

The Black Keys followed a week of performances in NYC celebrating the release of their new album, El Camino, with a weekend on the West Coast. They performed at KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas, at which "the guys could have converted almost anyone in attendance to the Church of Keys with the way the audience hung on to every word and guitar stroke," reports MTV, and at the Video Game Awards (VGA). The Black Keys continued the celebration of the release of their new album, El Camino, with a performance of "Gold on the Ceiling" on the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS last night. Watch it here. NPR's Fresh Air calls the new album a "reinvention" for the band, with their having "achieved a sound that's frequently brighter, more open and eager."
