    Jessica Lea Mayfield was the musical guest on the Late Show with David Letterman Friday night, marking her network television debut. She performed "Our Hearts Are Wrong," off her Nonesuch debut album, Tell Me. "That was great," Letterman said. "I enjoyed that considerably." To that, Paul Shaffer added: "I loved it." Watch the performance here. Mayfield is in the UK this week, where she can be heard on BBC Radio 6 on Wednesday and seen live at Fopp in London on Thursday.

    Jessica Lea Mayfield will be the musical guest on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight, performing "Our Hearts Are Wrong," off her Nonesuch debut album, Tell Me. Also on tonight's show are Glee's Matthew Morrison and comedian Jeff Altman. Mayfield is set to tour Europe in May and June, following her US tour. The tour begins in Belgium on May 27 and includes concerts in Ireland, UK, France, Germany, and Holland.

    Laurie Anderson was the musical guest on NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. She performed an excerpt of "Another Day in America," off her latest album, Homeland, accompanied by Colin Stetson on saxophone and Rob Burger on accordion, with her male alter ego, Fenway Bergamot, contributing vocals.     Congratulations to Allen Toussaint: he will be among the newest members inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in a ceremony on June 16 in New York City. Toussaint's debut appearance on Austin City Limits, which first aired last year and featured songs from his Nonesuch debut album, The Bright Mississippi, will be rebroadcast on PBS stations across the US this weekend.

    Laurie Anderson is the musical guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight. Tune in for a performance of an excerpt of "Another Day in America," off Anderson's latest album, Homeland, featuring her male alter ego, Fenway Bergamot. The New York Times says the song "suggests creative roads not taken." PEN World Voices Festival has announced that Anderson will participate in the festival this spring; she'll curate an evening of poetry, featuring Antony and the Johnsons.

    Randy Newman continues his US tour with two stops in the Midwest this weekend. Last weekend, Newman received a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for the film Toy Story 3. He's been nominated for an Academy Award for the song "We Belong Together" from the film and will perform it at the Oscars next weekend. Newman recently spoke about his scoring and songwriting on PBS's Tavis Smiley, which you can watch here.

    The Black Keys walked away from last night's Grammy Awards ceremonies with several awards for their album Brothers, including Best Alternative Music Album. The Plain Dealer exclaims: "It's official: The Black Keys are good as gold." The love continues as they spend their Valentine's Day on Conan, tonight. Also on tonight's show: Justin Bieber. The Black Keys were on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday, performing "Howlin' for You"; watch it here.

    The trailer for Howlin' for You, directed by Chris Marrs Piliero and featuring music by The Black Keys, which premiered on IMDB yesterday, seems to have gotten some notice. Pitchfork calls it "hilariously awesome," this "trailer for a so-bad-it's-insanely-good action film." They're not alone. "It's campy, it's cheesy and it's full of violence," says Billboard. "This is certainly a release we're howlin' for." Watch the trailer here. The Black Keys will be on The Tonight Show tonight; their album Brothers, on which "Howlin' for You" appears, is up for six Grammys on Sunday. They spoke about that with KROQ yesterday.

    Chris Thile makes his second appearance on The Travel Channel's The Traveler’s Guide to Life tonight. His travels brought him to Iowa last weekend to perform his Mandolin Concerto with the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony. "Thile gave a lively and intense performance of his newly composed concerto," says the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier, and a "sublime" encore of Bach. He was home in NYC to perform with guitarist Michael Daves last night and hits the road again with Punch Brothers this weekend. Banjoist Noam Pikelny recently spoke with the A.V. Club about the group's Grammy nominations, among many other things.

    The Black Keys will perform on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this Friday night, February 11, on NBC, and on Conan the following Monday, February 14, on TBS. The two television appearances bookend another very important date for the band, namely the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, taking place this Sunday, Feburary 13, at which The Black Keys' latest Nonesuch album, Brothers, is up for six Grammys.
