As part of the year-long celebration of Nonesuch Records' 60th anniversary, Vagabon (aka Laetitia Tamko) joins the Nonesuch Selects video series, in which artists stop by the Nonesuch office, pick some of their favorite albums from the music library, and share a few words on their choices. Vagabon stops by and chooses music by Jonny Greenwood, Sam Gendel, Yussef Dayes, and Rostam, as well as her own 2023 Nonesuch album, Sorry I Haven't Called.

Vagabon, aka Lætitia Tamko, shares the video for “Lexicon,” from her 2023 album, Sorry I Haven’t Called, directed by Kathleen Dycaico. The Mariah Carey–inspired “Lexicon” is the most jubilant track on an album comprising the most playful and adventurous music of Tamko’s career. She credits album co-producer Rostam (Vampire Weekend, HAIM, Clairo) with taking the song over the finish line and unifying her vision. “I wrote the song, the verses, the chorus, all of the bridge, and all of that, but I couldn't find a place for it on the record sonically,” she says. “When I revisited the album with Rostam in LA, he said give me a minute with it, and he just got it.”

Vagabon, aka Lætitia Tamko, shares the video for “Do Your Worst,” from her 2023 album, Sorry I Haven’t Called, directed by Angela Ricciardi. The song, produced by Tamko, Rostam, and Teo Halm (SZA, Rosalía, FKA Twigs), combines dance-floor euphoria, breakneck-paced jungle beats, and a DJ’s sense of pacing through Vagabon’s signature storytelling. “I was nestled in the German countryside when Teo Halm, who co-produced this with me, and I were experimenting in my home studio late into the night. I was listening to a lot of club music, and I set out to make an instrumental that drew from the music you’d hear at an underground club in Germany or the UK yet still lived in the Vagabon musical lexicon,” Tamko explains. “A year later, when I returned to the US, I got Rostam involved and he had a great idea of adding a layer of live drums on top of the breakbeat from my Germany session.”

Vagabon, the moniker of Lætitia Tamko, shares a lyric video for “Carpenter.” The single, which was co-produced by Tamko and Rostam (Vampire Weekend, Haim, Clairo, Maggie Rogers), is her first newly created solo music since her 2019 critically acclaimed self-titled album. “‘Carpenter’ is about that humbling feeling when you desperately want to be knowledgeable, you want to be advanced, you want to be mature, forward thinking, and evolved,” Tamko explains. “It’s about being confronted with your limitations. It’s about that a-ha moment, when a lesson from the past finally clicks and you want to run and tell someone who bore witness to the old you, ‘I finally get it now.’”
