The album as produced by Joe Henry and features both solo piano recordings made at Toussaint's home studio in New Orleans and those made in Los Angeles with a band including Jay Bellerose, Bill Frisell, Greg Leisz, Charles Lloyd, and David Piltch, and special guests Rhiannon Giddens and Van Dyke Parks. On the album are works by Toussaint, Professor Longhair, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and Paul Simon, among others.
